Manager, Project Costing

This challenging role in Finance manages the ongoing enhancement of a financial framework to facilitate effective and efficient portfolio management and provide decision support to the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), Finance and Executives.

In this role you will:

  • Provide high quality financial support to assist decision making over the project life cycle, including review and advice on business cases and the preparation and analysis of investment ratios.
  • Support the Secretary of the RBA Portfolio Investment Committee.
  • Challenge project managers to ensure the Bank is undertaking the project in most cost efficient way and is getting value for money.
  • Deliver accurate and relevant project reporting that meets the requirements of Finance, the EPMO and the
  • Executive Committees within agreed timeframes.
  • Continue to enhance the project accounting framework to meets the needs of the EPMO, project managers,
  • Finance department and Executives.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to secure their buy-in and support for changes to the framework.
  • Develop standard templates and written material such as policies, procedures, guidelines and training packs, and deliver training to support framework.
  • Transfer project accounting knowledge and skills to other Finance staff.
  • Ensure stakeholders comply with the project accounting framework and applicable accounting standards when accounting for, and reporting on, project costs.
  • Assist project managers on all financial-related matters, including the preparation of project cost estimates for business cases, planning and budgeting processes, and monthly reporting.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in accounting/commerce.
  • CA/CPA qualification
  • Extensive experience in a project accountant role (preferable banking sector).
  • Experience with mainstream accounting systems (e.g. PeopleSoft Financials).

It would also be beneficial if you had:

  • Knowledge of project financial management system.
  • Understanding of Waterfall and Agile project lifecycles.
