Senior Researcher

The Senior Researcher/Analyst is instrumental to the management, implementation and analysis of the various data components of the POCLS. One Senior Researcher/Analyst will support the Data Manager in the day-to-day management and analysis of the POCLS data (example tasks listed below) while the other Senior Researcher/Analyst will focus on undertaking statistical analysis, writing up reports and translation and dissemination of findings to answer policy questions.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Managing and delivering the data management timelines to meet the POCLS milestones
  • Monitoring progress and resolving issues on data collection and data management related deliverables by contractors
  • Managing the updating/refreshing of the FACS administrative data and record linkage data
  • Undertaking data cleaning and manipulation tasks for the POCLS interview, FACS administrative and record linkage data
  • Managing and curating the POCLS data in SURE
  • Managing the POCLS data release and data user training
  • Undertaking statistical analysis and research of the POCLS data in topics of policy interest
  • Undertaking the development of statistical reports for the POCLS primary data collection (i.e., interview data)
  • Contributing to the development of the POCLS Dashboards and providing data in the required formats for the Dashboard publication
  • Undertaking technical review of data analysis plans, research and technical reports by the Study Working Group members
  • Providing statistical/technical advice to the POCLS data users.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Demonstrated experience in industrial relations and an understanding of current legislation and government policy.

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012


The role will require the candidate to:
  • Have a good understanding and experience with the commercial real estate market.
  • Liaise regularly with District Executive Directors, District Executives and Deputy Secretaries and develop annual District Office Accommodation Strategic Plans which form the basis of an annual capital expenditure program.
  • Provide advice on office accommodation strategy across the whole FACS Cluster including other on and off budget agencies such as Land and Housing Corporation, Multicultural NSW, Advocate for Children and Young People, and The Children’s Guardian.
  • Oversee the planning of office fit-outs and sourcing of project management services from the market.
  • Develop and manage, in liaison with Property NSW, non-office property assets such as staff residential and surplus community centres.
  • Prepare an annual Forward Lease cost Estimate.
  • Direct and oversee the Office Accommodation Capital Expenditure budget.
  • Manage a team of staff
