The role

Based in Melbourne, we have a great opportunity to join the BIG W team as a Stock Loss Investigator. You will be responsible for identifying, analysing and investigating all suspicious transactions and potential fraudulent activities, thereby achieving stock loss reduction goals and minimising the businesses overall risk. Key areas of responsiblities will include:

  • Liaise with Group Risk and Stock Loss to identify severe and trending risks across all stores;
  • Investigates cases of retail fraud including cash thefts, inventory thefts, fraudulent refunds and credit card transactions throughout the Big W network;
  • Creates investigative plans, gathers evidence, interviews witnesses/suspects and compiles comprehensive investigative reports and communicates those findings weekly with leadership team.
  • Develops trend reporting and analysis of transactional activity, case resolutions and total loss using business intelligence tools;
  • Provide thought leadership on severe incidents nationally;
  • Lead Severity 1&2 investigations and fraud risks nationally through to resolution;
  • Develop risk mitigation plans for national and state operations;
  • Support and develop the stores Stock Loss Partners who provide coaching and support to the Operations teams on Stock Loss.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following career experiences:

  • A proven background in Loss prevention/profit protection, ideally within a retail or warehouse environment
  • Functional expertise in loss mitigation, interviewing and case management
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and positively engage across senior leaders
  • Strong analytical skills
